With ISO 20768:2018 „Vapour products – Routine analytical vaping machine – Definitions and standard conditions“, an international standard for standardized machine con- ditions in the vaporization process for e-cigarettes has been available since 2018. It specifies the technical require- ments for the machine which routinely generates the aerosol and the emissions of e-cigarettes in the laboratory for further analysis.
The following additional international methods are currently being worked on:
• Determination of the mass of vaporized liquid (ISO/NP 24197 Vapour products - Analytical method to measure mass of e-liquids vaporized)
• The determination of carbonyl compounds in aerosol (ISO/NP 24211 Vapour products - Analytical method to measure carbonyls of e-vapor product emissions)
• The determination of metals in aerosol (ISO/NP 24198 Vapour products - Analytical method to measure metals of e-vapor product emissions)
• The determination of nicotine in aerosol (ISO/AWI 24199 Vapour products — Analytical method to measure nicotine of e-vapor product emissions)
